Born in KL, raised in Borneo, PJ and later Sydney, Isaac Entry’s music is a global tale about local stories. Drawing heavily on the traditions of folk and roots music he has crafted a sound and sense of songwriting that is distinctly his.
His exposure to music and performing came in the setting of Sunday services at church. At the age of 10 he had managed to convince his parents to buy him his first guitar to take lessons with. He also went on to show an interest in other instruments and taught himself to play both the bass and drums.
It was in his late teens when he was exposed to the blues did he decide to pick up the guitar again and try to replicate the music he was hearing play.
After several years of performing in Sydney with various different outfits he decided to embark on his musical walkabout. Or as the Iban’s term it ‘Bejalai’. He traveled across South East Asia and Western Europe with his backpack and a guitar before returning to KL to call it home. Shortly after he was offered a spot on Monday nights at No Black Tie.
Isaac Entry Live at No Black Tie is a selection of tracks from the recordings from these performances. They feature songs that he has been playing since his first gig alongside newer additions.
This is the first release from NBT Records. Grab your copy at No Black Tie.
