Choro is a Brazilian music style, very popular in the 1920s and 1930s, but still popular nowadays. In spite of the name (which means “cry”), the style often has a fast and happy rhythm, characterized by virtuosity, improvisation, subtle modulations and full of syncopation and counterpoint. Considered the first urban popular music typical of Brazil, Valtinho Anastacio (vocal/percussion) Az Samad (guitar), Tay Cher Siang (piano) & Dylan Lee (cello) will show you what it’s all about.
